Suspect Arrested in Shooting of 49ers Star Keion White After Nightclub Dispute
Gregory Walker, 35, was arrested in Hollywood eight months after 49ers DE Keion White was allegedly shot at a San Francisco nightclub. He is held without bail.
It was 5:30 on a Friday morning in Hollywood when officers from the LAPD’s Gang and Narcotics Division moved in. Their target, police said, was a 35-year-old man who had allegedly been on the run for eight months — ever since gunshots rang out inside a San Francisco nightclub in the small hours after the Super Bowl.
The man taken into custody was Gregory Walker. He was booked on a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon involving a semiautomatic rifle, according to the LAPD. Jail records list Walker at 6 feet 2 and 195 pounds — and show he is being held without bail. The alleged victim in the case: San Francisco 49ers defensive end Keion White.
Walker allegedly shot White on Feb. 8 in San Francisco, just after the conclusion of Super Bowl 2026, police officials said. The shooting reportedly followed a dispute at a nightclub involving rapper Lil Baby, the chart-topping artist behind ‘Drip Too Hard.’ For eight months, the case sat open with no suspect in custody. That changed when the LAPD was notified of Walker’s presence in Los Angeles and tracked him to Hollywood.
The Night at Dahlia’s Lounge
White had thrown a Super Bowl party at Dahlia’s Lounge, a bar and nightclub in the city’s Mission District. According to reports, the evening turned when White got into an argument with Lil Baby after the rapper was denied entry to the event. What began as a door dispute allegedly escalated inside the club, with tensions rising between the two camps as the night wore on.
During the altercation, a witness went upstairs to seek help from a manager. While the witness was away, two gunshots allegedly rang out downstairs. When the witness returned, White had been shot in the leg, the witness reportedly told police. In the first hours after the shooting, San Francisco police said only that a verbal altercation between two groups had preceded the gunfire, and that the victim was struck when shots were fired by an unknown suspect.
By the time officers entered the club to investigate, the scene had tipped into surreal territory. According to reports, topless women were sweeping dollar bills off the floor as police began their work — the scattered cash a leftover from a party that had started as a Super Bowl celebration and ended as a crime scene.
The 49ers called White ‘a victim of a shooting’ who had sustained a bullet wound to his ankle. He required surgery to mend the wound but went on to make a full recovery — a relief for a franchise that had watched one of its own go down for the second time in under two years. Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot during a robbery attempt in San Francisco in 2024 and fought his way back onto the field.
The story detonated across the sports world back in February. White reassured fans himself, posting from his hospital bed on Instagram after surgery that the operation had gone well and he was in great spirits heading into the offseason. Fellow players weighed in too. Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson publicly ripped Lil Baby over the incident, calling the whole episode, in his words, ‘mad lame.’
What Happens Next
In February, San Francisco police had responded to the 1700 block of Mission Street at around 4:06 a.m. and found White suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Responding officers provided aid at the scene before paramedics transported him to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The department said a preliminary investigation revealed a verbal altercation between two groups inside the business, and the case was assigned to the SFPD’s Strategic Investigation Unit as an open and active investigation.
Walker now faces the felony assault charge and remains jailed without bail as prosecutors build their case. The LAPD’s Gang and Narcotics Division handled the takedown, a sign of how seriously investigators treated a suspect they allege fled across the state after the shooting. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty, and the charges against him are allegations, not findings.
White, for his part, has already written his on-field comeback. A second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft who joined the 49ers via a trade with the New England Patriots in 2025, he has played in all four of San Francisco’s games this season, totaling two sacks and six tackles. Eight months after two gunshots cut a Super Bowl party short, the case finally has a suspect in custody — and a courtroom reckoning still to come.
