In the fourth round, the Kansas City Chiefs added more offense to their team. Although they signed Irv Smith, Jr. in free agency, the team drafted TCU Tight End Jared Wiley.
The Kansas City Chiefs continue to add offensive weapons, and they found a big target for Patrick Mahomes in selecting TCU Tight End Jared Wiley. He’s an incredible athlete who can catch the ball in the seam, and he’s also rated as the top blocker at the Tight End position.
Wiley stands 6’6” and tips the scale at 249 pounds. He reminds me of former Chiefs Tight End Jason Dunn. He caught 47 passes for the Horn Frogs last season, who didn’t have the most consistent offense. Even further, he’s comfortable in the slot.
The addition of Wiley makes sense for Kansas City. Currently, the Chiefs have four solid tight ends on the roster: Travis Kelce, Noah Gray, and free agent signee Irv Smith, Jr., and Wiley.
The Chiefs’ signing of Smith was terrific. He needed to be more utilized in Cincinnati. Kansas City adds Wiley, which could mean Noah Gray has to force his way onto the roster this season.
I haven’t seen enough film on Wiley to see how he catches the ball, but he’ll be a nightmare matchup for smaller defenders. The good news is he has no pressure to make plays and learn much about the position from Kelce.
