“You’re Irrelevant”: Critics Pile On Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett Over Claim AG Todd Blanche Plans to ‘Play Games’ With Midterms

Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett fired off a warning about the midterm elections, and the replies fired back at her instead. Responding on X to Attorney General Todd Blanche’s remarks about the Justice Department examining voting systems in several states, Crockett accused Blanche and the administration of planning to “play games with the election” and said he was still acting like Donald Trump’s personal attorney. Her post quickly became a referendum on her, not on him.

Crockett’s message pulled no punches. She wrote that “Todd Blanche and this corrupt administration are already planning to play games with the election” and that “old habits die hard because this man is still acting like Trump’s personal attorney.” Her closing line drew its own line in the sand: “Our democracy does not belong to Trump and his sellout friends. It belongs to the people.” Blanche did serve as Trump’s personal attorney before becoming attorney general.

The remarks that set her off came in a CBS News clip, where Blanche was asked whether the Justice Department was looking at other states the way it has looked at California. “There are some states that we’re looking at,” he said, adding, “I don’t want to get ahead of the civil lawyers working on those cases.” He went on to say, “We have meaningful evidence that there are people who are not eligible to vote,” and noted that in states like California, “every single person registered to vote gets a ballot,” adding, “everybody should be as concerned as I am.”

The Replies Turned on Crockett’s Own Record

Much of the reaction skipped past Blanche entirely and went for Crockett’s standing. Many replies brought up her March 2026 loss in the Texas Democratic Senate primary to James Talarico. One user wrote, “Remember when you lost big time in the primary,” while another declared, “You were voted OUT by your constituents. You’re irrelevant!” A third piled on: “Have you cleaned out your desk yet?”

Others backed the substance of Blanche’s comments on voter eligibility, with one user writing, “Stopping people from voting who aren’t American citizens is NOT playing games. That’s enforcing the law on the books!!” Another cheered simply, “Thank goodness we have Todd!!”

So the argument runs on two tracks at once. One side treats Crockett’s post as a legitimate alarm about election interference from the country’s top law enforcement official. The other treats it as noise from a politician whose own voters just rejected her. Both sides are really arguing about the same thing: who gets believed when they say the system is under threat. The footage shows Blanche talking about voting systems and eligibility, not certification schemes, and that gap is where the whole fight lives.
