Former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed has finally been able to focus on football again after navigating his release from the Tennessee Titans in March and a two-year legal battle that ended with no charges filed. As a free agent, his next stop could be a return home.

Earlier this week, the pending legal battle surrounding former Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed ended when all charges were dropped by the Tennessee district attorney.
Both Sneed and his lawyer made statements that appear to close the case and inform NFL teams that the former Titan and Chiefs cornerback is ready to play football again. Though Sneed still faces a civil suit, that will not affect his availability to the NFL.
The Chiefs traded Sneed to the Titans in March 2024. As part of the deal, Kansas City received a 2025 third-round pick, and Tennessee gave Sneed a four-year, $76 million contract.
By releasing him in March, the Titans saved $11.4 million in cap space but took an $8.1 million dead-cap hit that will be spread over the next two seasons.
When the legal battle ended, many Chiefs fans expressed their desire for Sneed to return to Kansas City.

The Chiefs emphasized the secondary in the NFL Draft, using their first and fourth-round picks on cornerbacks Mansoor Delane and Janon Canady. Last season, they drafted Nohl Williams and signed Kristen Fulton.
If the Chiefs want to add a savvy veteran who knows the system, Sneed would be a terrific addition to KC’s defense – provided he’s healthy.
Sneed battled numerous injuries during his brief stay in Tennessee. With the legal matter settled, he can now get back to what he loves to do – play football.
The former Chiefs player was one of the most talented and popular players during his tenure in Kansas City. Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo used his unique skills, playing both outside and inside. Sneed was the purest shutdown corner the Chiefs have had on the roster during their recent Super Bowl runs.
Kansas City will likely kick the tires on Sneed, and ChiefsBlitz.com has learned he would be open to a team-friendly one-year deal to return to the Chiefs. Now, if healthy, he might have other options, but you’d have to believe the chance to work with Dave Merritt again and slide into a defense he knows very well would be an ideal fit.
The Chiefs missed the playoffs last season, and they are hell-bent on returning to the playoffs in 2026. Kansas City spent considerable draft capital on the defense, and adding Sneed makes the offseason rebuilding project that much better.
