KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Let’s be honest, Chiefs Kingdom. I’m relieved we got the win, but I demand better execution from this team than what we showed in the first half against the Washington Commanders. The 28-7 final looks dominant, but those two early Patrick Mahomes interceptions had me focused on the clock.
It took a while, but we finally buckled down, scored 21 unanswered points, and secured our fifth win. But for me, this victory is overshadowed by the operational challenges that have emerged.

THE OFFENSIVE LINE AND RUNNING BACK CHALLENGES
The cost of this victory was high, with a significant injury and an exposed depth issue on the offensive line.
| Player | Injury/Status | My Take on the Impact |
| Isiah Pacheco (RB) | Right MCL Sprain | This is a massive loss. With Pacheco out, our backfield now relies on Kareem Hunt and Brashard Smith. This team needs a new ground-game identity immediately. |
| Trey Smith (RG) | Low-Back Spasms / Inactive | I saw what happens when he doesn’t play. Mike Caliendo struggled at times, and we cannot have a weakness this apparent on our interior line going forward. Smith’s absence is deeply felt. |
THE REAL MVP: OUR DEFENSE CARRIES THE DAY
While the offense was figuring things out, our defense shut the door. This unit is truly elite, holding the Commanders to just one score. This is where we won the game, period.
The Chiefs’ secondary remains the backbone of this defense. Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson were dominant on the outside, and Chamarri Conner was a lockdown player in the slot. The secondary’s performance was the only reason we weren’t in a dogfight deep into the fourth quarter.

The Nohl Williams Factor: Why I Demand More Snaps
My biggest frustration is a self-inflicted wound: the underutilization of rookie CB Nohl Williams. He only logged eight snaps (15% of the defensive plays) against the Commanders, and this has to change.
Williams’ Pro Football Focus (PFF) numbers are insane and demonstrate he needs to be used more:
- PFF Overall Grade: 79.8 (Ranks near the top of all qualifying Chiefs CBs).
- PFF Coverage Grade: 86.4 (This is an elite mark, ranking among the best cornerbacks in the NFL).
- QB Passer Rating Allowed: 39.6 when targeted (An incredible number, indicating quarterbacks have been highly unsuccessful throwing his way this season).
The data is clear: Nohl Williams is playing like one of the best cover corners on this team. We are benching a weapon. Steve Spagnuolo must increase his snaps and trust the rookie’s elite performance to elevate the entire defensive unit.

MY PFF GRADES TAKEAWAYS
The PFF grades confirm what I saw with my own eyes.
| Player | Position | Overall PFF Grade | My Quick Analysis |
| Patrick Mahomes | QB | 82.8 (Season High) | My Offensive MVP. Nine catches for 93 yards. The offense flows through Rashee Rice, AKA my Golden jacket kid, and Kelce right now. |
| Rashee Rice AKA my Golden jacket kid | WR | 82.8 (Highest Skill Player Grade) | My Offensive MVP. Nine catches for 93 yards. The offense flows through Rashee Rice AKA my Golden jacket kid and Kelce right now. |
| Mike Caliendo | RG | 40.7 (Starting RG) | This grade is the proof. Caliendo struggled, and it showed in the run game early on. Smith is sorely missed. |
My Unit Takeaway:
The Tale of Two Lines: We saw the stark contrast between our elite defense and our compromised offensive line. While we generated a highly efficient rushing grade (+0.19 EPA), the Caliendo 40.7 PFF grade is a flashing red light for future matchups.
The #Chiefs are signing veteran defensive tackle Mike Pennel.
