The Kansas City Chiefs had several injuries from their preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. Today, it was revealed that one of their former first-round draft picks will miss the season with a hamstring injury.

Kansas City Chiefs pass rusher Felix Anudike-Uzomah hasn’t made much of an impact since he was drafted in 2023. This upcoming season was supposed to be his breakout year, but instead, a torn hamstring has ended his 2025 season.
It’s a tough blow for the former first-round pick, who has dealt with injuries and depth chart issues during his tenure in Kansas City. If he’s going to make an impact in the future, it won’t be until 2026.
Head Coach Andy Reid hinted this was the likely path for FAU, and it’s a shame his season ends before it begins.

To add depth to the roster, the Chiefs worked out DE Owen Carney, LB David Gbenda, LB Ryan Meed, and LB Xander Mueller. The team signed Carney and Mueller today to offset the loss of FAU, and the team also waived RB Elijah Young.
The Chiefs will host the Chicago Bears on Friday in their final exhibition game. The team has to make its 2025 53-man roster official on Tuesday, August 26th at 3:00 CST. The Chiefs may look to add a pair of veteran defenders.
Two names to keep an eye on: Safety Justin Simmons and pass rusher Z’Darius Smith could be the type of veteran defenders that can offset some of the losses on defense. However, both want big one-year guarantees to end their free agent status.
