The theme continues for the Chiefs’ defense this season. With a deep draft along the defensive line, Kansas City is hedging their bets to re-build the trenches for Steve Spagnuolo.

It’s always a risk when you dip into free agency from within your division. Either a player leaves because their team isn’t competitive or because they aren’t a good fit for their particular skills.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ newest pass rusher, Janarius Robinson, languished in Las Vegas as a member of the Raiders.
His stat line won’t wow you, but he’s a solid player who never achieved a level of consistency with the Raiders. However, he’s only 25, and Chiefs Defensive Line Coach Joe Cullen might be able to get more out of him this season.

The Chiefs have been busy this off-season signing defensive linemen. They signed former Los Angeles Chargers player Jerry Tillery in free agency and brought back Mike Pennel.
The Chiefs will participate in the NFL draft later this month, and these one-year signings directly reflect the depth in this draft along the defensive line. The Chiefs are rumored to be interested in using their first-round pick on a defensive tackle.
