After signing San Francisco 49ers left tackle to a two-year deal at the onset of free agency, the Kansas City Chiefs added some speed to the offense.

Going back to the well, the Kansas City Chiefs went back to the San Francisco 49ers to add a speedy running back who could significantly impact KC’s offense by signing free agent Elijah Mitchell.
The speedy former 49ers running back did not play last season after going through successful surgery to repair a torn hamstring. At 26, the Chiefs have a young running back with extreme speed that could open up KC’s offense in 2025.
First reported by Jordan Schultz at Schlutz Report, the Chiefs signed him to a one-year, $3.5 million deal. If he is healthy and productive this season, it’s’ possible the Chiefs can extend his contract to 2026 and beyond.
The signing likely means Isiah Pacheco or Kareem Hunt will not be back in a Chiefs uniform. Chiefs Bliltz has learned that Kansas City has dangled Pacheco out for a trade, but to this point, no team has made an offer.
Hunt is 30 years old, and despite his success last year, it’s possible that with the addition of Mitchell, he could be a solid backup. After the Super Bowl, Hunt admitted he’d like to return this season.
Pacheco’s disappointing return after his tibula surgery shows that Kansas City needs more speed in the backfield and better vision.
