No Charges Expected in Xavier Worthy Incident

When news broke this morning about Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy’s arrest, many thought the worst. However, local prosecutors did not find enough evidence to file charges.

Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy’s crazy day appears to have a happy ending. According to updated court records obtained by Cory Muse with KUVE TV in Texas, the criminal listing has been changed to Dismissed/Declined.

Xavier Worthy and his lawyers detailed the incident, stating the facts they believe occurred Friday evening. They were quick to point out their client’s innocence. Both Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett wrote an updated statement this afternoon, stating the facts of the allegations against their client.

“The complainant was asked multiple times over the last two weeks to vacate Mr. Worthy’s residence upon discovery of her infidelity, which a private investigator has video evidence of. She has refused to vacate the residence and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr. Worthy,” they stated.

They went on to describe Worthy as the victim in this situation.

“The complainant further destroyed a room in the residence, scratched Mr. Worthy’s face, and ripped out parts of his hair, which there is photographic evidence of. Mr. Worthy told law enforcement at the time of the incident that he did not want to press charges against the complainant.”

Per the Austin-American Statesman earlier this evening, after reviewing the case, Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick made a statement indicating at this time, no charges would be filed against Xavier Worthy.

“After further investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and further discussion with a third-party witness, Mr. Worthy, and his attorneys, this case is being declined at this time pending completion of the investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Worthy and his lawyers are fully cooperating with this investigation,” Shawn Dick stated.

It would appear some details need to be added to the report based on the third-party witness from Worthy and the alleged victim. For now, this case seems to be closed. After processing paperwork this evening, Worthy will be released from custody.

Chiefs fans were feeling a bit of Deja Vu after hearing the news this morning, nearly a year after Rashee Rice’s legal entanglement. However, this matter ends in the 24-hour news cycle.
