Chiefs Make Moves Ahead of Steelers Game

With the short week ahead for the Kansas City Chiefs, they made some roster moves and game designations for their Christmas Day game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs placed linebacker Jack Cochrane on injured reserve. They elevated Tight End Peyton Hendershot, who was designated to return after the Chiefs 27-19 win over the Houston Texans.

In addition, the Kansas City Chiefs signed veteran Tight End Robert Tonyan to their practice squad. Tonyan was an undrafted free agent in 2017, but he has 17 career touchdowns, having played for the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, and, most recently, the Minnesota Vikings.

Before they left for Pittsburgh, the team also elevated Safety Deon Bush and Linebacker Swayze Bowman for the Steelers game.

The team hopes Defensive End Chris Jones, who has a calf injury, can play on Christmas Day. However, the Chiefs have ruled out Cornerback Chamarri Connor (Concussion) and Left Tackle DJ Humphries (Hamstring) for the Steelers game.

However, cornerback Joey Porter, Jr., a key defensive player, has been ruled out for the Christmas Day game, but pass rusher T.J. Watt will play despite an ankle injury. He played Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens but was ineffective for much of the game.

Pittsburgh will get a big weapon back on offense as Steelers Wide Receiver. George Pickens has been cleared to play against the Chiefs. He’s a big cog in their offense, and KC’s secondary will have to account for him throughout the game.

Kansas City will play its third NFL game in eleven days on Wednesday, so its recovery time is short. However, a win can secure the top seed in the AFC, giving it a home-field advantage throughout the postseason.
