After his MRI on Monday, and with news leaking about the severity of his hamstring injury, it appears he and the Kansas City Chiefs dodged some devastating news.
When new left tackle DJ Humphries left the game against the Los Angeles Chargers on their final drive Sunday night, the Kansas City Chiefs had to be discouraged. His injury is a reminder of all the players that have spent significant time on injured reserve.
However, on Wednesday, Humphries was on the practice field stretching and did some routine loosening drills, but he did not take any practice snaps. Head Coach Andy Reid indicated that it would be unlikely to play Sunday, but there is hope he can return to the starting lineup against the Houston Texans in the Chiefs final home game at Arrowhead.
Humphries attempted to play his first game eleven months after his ACL surgery and nearly finished his debut against the Los Angeles Chargers. Either way, he will not need a stint on injured reserve.
Reid did not indicate if Wanya Morris would start Sunday at Cleveland. Guard Joe Thuney could play left tackle and Mike Caliendo could play left guard.
The Chiefs will face the premier pass rusher in Clevland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, so Reid has to insure whatever he decides, he schemes up a way to negate Garrett from being a dominant force in this import and AFC matchup.
