With just five games left, counting Sunday Night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Kansas City Chiefs continue to tweak their roster. On Monday, former Chiefs draftee Steven Nelson will work out with the team.
Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach is not bashful when it comes to updating his roster. On Monday, he’s bringing back 2015 third-round pick cornerback Steven Nelson for a workout with the intent of signing him for the remainder of the season.
Nelson played four seasons (2015-18) with Kansas City before signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers via free agency. He spent a year in Philadelphia before taking his talents to Houston for the last two seasons.
After kicking the tires again on free agent Xavien Howard, the Chiefs feel Nelson, who is 31 years old, can still make an impact. The Chief’s secondary has struggled with Trent McDuffie on the outside; he’s more suited to play inside, and Nelson can play on the outside.
Either way this gives the Chiefs depth and a veteran presence that has played in big games in the post season.
