Will the Chiefs Make Another Deal?

On Monday night, the Kansas City Chiefs will attempt to remain undefeated when they face the Tampa Bay Bucs at Arrowhead. The game is important for two recent trade acquisitions, DeAndre Hopkins and Joshua Uche, who debut tonight in KC. So, will Brett Veach make another move?

Kansas City Chiefs GM Mike Veach has built the best roster in the NFL. Yet, over the last two weeks, he’s added wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and edge rusher Joshua Uche. Veach made the deals based on injuries to shore up his roster and add significant playmakers.

With the trade deadline falling on election day, he has set his sights on adding a cornerback, offensive tackle, or another wide receiver for the stretch run.

The Chiefs are rumored to be interested in New Orleans Saints Cornerback Marshon Lattimore as a potential target. They’ve also contacted the Carolina Panthers regarding their star corner Jaycee Horn.

On the receiver front, they had shown some interest in the New York Giants receiver Darius Slayton before trading for Hopkins. They continue to eye Panthers receiver Adam Thielen, who visited the Chiefs before signing with Carolina during free agency.

They almost traded with the Jacksonville Jaguars for left tackle Cam Robinson, but he chose the Minnesota Vikings instead.

Either way, Veach doesn’t seem satisfied with standing pat if you look at the moves or potential deals. The good news is that he will have Isiah Pacheco, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Hollywood Brown at various points. So, a deal isn’t necessary.

Getting Lattimore would be the missing ingredient for the Chiefs’ three-peat chase. He makes the most sense and fits Steve Spagnuolo’s scheme in Kansas City.

So, will Veach get something done? I’d probably not bet against him.

With a big lead in both the AFC standing and in the AFC West, the Chiefs could enter next Sunday’s game at Arrowhead undefeated against the Denver Broncos in a knockout game against a division rival.

That’s why I think Veach will be aggressive before the Tuesday deadline. In fact, with the national elections on Tuesday, whatever moves he makes will likely come before the Chiefs and Bucs kick off tonight.

If not, Tuesday could be a wild day in the NFL.
