Fractured Ankle Will Sideline CB Jaylen Watson

If the injuries weren’t bad enough for the Kansas City Chiefs, they got some bad news this morning on cornerback Jaylen Watson.

Late in the Chief’s 28-18 win over the San Francisco 49ers, breakout cornerback Jaylen Watson suffered a potential season-ending injury. Per NFL Insider @Ian Rappaport, Watson suffered a fractured ankle. It’s not known the severity or timeline of his possible return, but it’s not looking good.

The Kansas City Chiefs defense has been the team’s cornerstone, and Watson’s play this season has been at an All-Pro level. Not only was he outstanding in pass coverage, but his run support on defense has made him an all-around threat on defense.

Unless the Chiefs make a trade for another cornerback, rookie Christian Roland-Wallace, who had his first NFL interception in the third quarter against the 49ers. The Undrafted free agent signee had played a single snap until Sunday, and with Watson out, he appears to be the next man up.

The Chiefs could also consider trading for a cornerback, but the cost might be too high if they consider bringing in another wide receiver.
