Chiefs Add More Offensive Line Depth with Final Pick

With their final pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs continue to stockpile young offensive linemen. The latest is Holy Cross Guard, C.J. Hanson.

You must hand it to Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach for his willingness to focus on the offensive side of the ball in this draft. In the second round, he took his future Left Tackle, Kingsley Suamataia, and in round five, he drafted Penn State Center Hunter Nourzad.

In round seven, the Chiefs selected Holy Cross Guard C.J. Hanson. The 6’5” guard has a solid frame with long arms. As a three-year starter, the two-time First Team All-Patriot League player has been a mainstay at right guard.

He has excellent body mass and solid upper-body strength. He struggles with lower-body leverage, but that should improve with better coaching. He’s certainly a project, but Kansas City has virtually zero depth along the offensive line.

Hanson has the size head coach Andy Reid likes, but it’ll take time to see how fast he can adapt to the college game. He struggled against better talent at Holy Cross. Still, he’s not being asked to start this year, so Kansas City has a year to develop his abilities on the field.
