The NFL announced their Post Season Schedule during halftime of the Buffalo Bills Miami Dolphins game. The Kansas City Chiefs will begin their defense of Super Bowl LVII with a home again in primetime on Saturday, January 13th, against the Miami Dolphins.
Updated: The Kansas City Chiefs Wildcard opponent will be the Miami Dolphins. Fresh off their 13-12 season finale against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Chiefs have six days to prepare for their Prime Time Wild Card matchup against the Miami Dolphins.
Kansas City enters the postseason as the AFC’s third seed. It is the lowest seed in the Patrick Mahomes era, and should the Chiefs win Saturday night at Arrowhead, Mahomes will play his first non-Super Bowl road game of his career.
The downside to the matchup is that if you’re a Chiefs fan and don’t live in the Kansas City viewing area, you will have to subscribe to NBC’s streaming service, Peacock, to watch the wild card game, which will start at 7:00 PM CST.
The Chiefs enter the postseason with one of the best defenses and one of the best postseason quarterbacks in the NFL. Led by Chris Jones and Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs can wash away the stench of their struggles at home with a big showing Saturday Night.
Miami heads to Kansas City backing into the postseason with numerous injuries to their defense and a struggling offense. They blew a 14-7 halftime lead at home that would have wrapped up the AFC East. Instead, they lost to the Buffalo Bills 21-14.
Kansas City wasn’t magical at Arrowhead this season, posting a 4-4 record, but in the postseason, Mahomes has never lost in the Wild Card round.
