The Kansas City Chiefs narrowly escaped Las Vegas with a 30-27 win over the Raiders. Afterward, receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton exited the game. With their future availability still in question, rumors suggest the team is considering signing Tyreek Hill. So what does that mean for KC?

Sometimes the NFL Gods are cruel, and in the case of Chiefs Wide Receiver Tyquan Thornton, after establishing career highs in yards and touchdowns in a single game, he dislocated his ankle and is likely done for the 2026 season. Though there are no breaks, he likely sustained ligament damage, which could offer clues as to whether he could return for postseason football.
AS for Rashee Rice, he left the game in the first series with a hamstring issue, and he’s considered week to week. Rice dealt with hamstring issues last season, and with the Chiefs’ bye week approaching, he’ll get treatment and rest this week.

Per @AdamSchefter, agent Drew Rosenhaus is officially opening contract talks today with multiple teams—and the #Chiefs are right at the front of the line!

Those injuries open the door for Tyreek Hill’s return. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, posted on social media that he expects his client will sign with a team in the coming days. Though his agent admitted multiple teams would be involved, the Chiefs are the betting favorite to sign Hill.
He has NOT been medically cleared, and if he signs this week, he likely won’t make his debut until November 1, when the Chiefs travel to Denver to play the Broncos. Hill had a horrific injury a year ago, and recent workout videos suggest that he’s gaining speed.

Hill has dropped nuggets about a potential return to the NFL, and in particular to the Chiefs, but it’s not a done deal yet. If other NFL teams think he could play in a month, his ruthless agent could spark a bidding war, much like he did between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins when the Chiefs traded him for five draft picks.
It’s doubtful Hill will be 100% at any point this season, but he should have enough in the tank to match Thornton’s output through four games. Further, just having Hill on the field will cause nightmares for teams, who will respect his previous success in Kansas City and Miami.

Now Kansas City has been in discussions with the Arizona Cardinals regarding Marvin Harrison Junior. It remains to be seen if the Chiefs have enough cap room to make that deal. They may not know until they sign Hill.
Chiefs Blitz learned that Rosnehous is seeking a two-year deal for his client, which could spread the payment into 2027 for Kansas City, when they are expected to have more cap space.
Stay tuned to Chiefs Blitz for the latest news on Tyreek Hill and Marvin Harrison Jr.
