Several months ago, Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Rashee Rice was accused of some off-the-field incidents that threatened his 2026 season. Once the allegations came to light, the NFL started an investigation surrounding the events surrounding the complaint from the mother of his two children.

Today, the NFL concluded via Rice’s attorney, Sean Lindsey, who made a public statement regarding the NFL’s decision.

“Mr. Rice wants to thank the NFL for their thorough investigation, and looks forward to the start of the 2026-27 NFL season,” he stated Friday afternoon.

With the NFL Draft in three weeks, there was a big concern that a lengthy investigation into the allegations against Rice could force the Chiefs to address the wide receiver position in the first round. With two picks, even if Rice was cleared, there remains the possibility they could grab one of the top receivers.

Rice, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal, will be a free agent after the 2026 NFL season. Rice was suspended six games in 2025, and if this investigation had found any truth to the allegations, he could have been suspended the entire 2026 season. In addition, he could have violated his plea agreement with Dallas County, which could have resulted in jail time.
