McKinnon and Hardman Out Against Raiders

On Friday afternoon, Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach, Andy Reid told reporters that both Wide Receiver, Mecole Hardman and Running Back, Jerrick McKinnon will be out for Sunday’s AFC West battle with the Las Vegas Raiders. However, the Raiders might not have their best defensive weapon available either.

With their big AFC West showdown set for Sunday in Las Vegas against the Raiders, the Kansas City Chiefs offense is going to be missing a pair of solid role players. Head Coach, Andy Reid told reporters today, that Wide Receiver, Mecole Hardman (Thumb), and Running Back Jerrick McKinnon (Groin Strain) would not be available on Sunday.

The loss of McKinnon is a big one for Kansas City. As the Swiss army knife of the offense, McKinnon has become a valuable commodity for Patrick Mahomes. Further with the offense struggling, this will cause the Chiefs to make some adjustments to their game plan.

That means the Chiefs will have to rely on Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The Chiefs rushing game showed up against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night, so if KC is going to run the ball against the Raiders, Pacheco and CEH will likely carry the load. The Chiefs could also elevate La’Mical Perine as the third back.

Hardman hurt his hand early in the first quarter against the Eagles, and only played a few snaps after going to the sideline. Thankfully, the Chiefs return game is in good hands with Kadarius Toney, who was solid returning punts for Kansas City. His shake-and-bake return style generally gains positive yards in the return game.

On the flip side, the Las Vegas Raiders are not expected to have All-Pro Defensive End, Maxx Crosby on the field Sunday. He’s been battling a knee injury and has been unable to practice all week. His absence would be big news for the Raiders and even bigger news for the Chiefs offense.
