The Kansas City Chiefs might not retain Tyquan Thornton, and we still don’t know if Rashee Rice will be eligible this season. So that means Brett Veach needs to explore adding one or two free agent receivers this week.

Darnell Mooney (Atlanta Falcons)
He is a 5’11”, 180-pound wide receiver who spent 6 seasons in the NFL with the Bears and the Falcons. This year, he played 15 games, had 32 receptions for 443 receiving yards (13.8 yards per catch), and 1 receiving touchdown. In his career, he played 91 games, recording 309 receptions for 4,028 receiving yards, averaging 13.0 yards per catch, and scoring 17 touchdowns.
His speed and vertical ability can make him an appealing fit to Mahomes, and he would be on a prove-it deal. He never had a chance to build a connection with QB play, but some of his weaknesses include his production dipping and him being banged up for a couple of seasons. I would expect him to sign a 10year, $10 million deal.

Dyami Brown (Jacksonville Jaguars)
He is a 6’0”, 195-pound wide receiver who played 5 seasons in the NFL with the Commanders and the Jaguars. He played in 14 games, having 20 receptions for 227 receiving yards, averaging 11.4 per catch, and 1 touchdown. In his career, he played 77 games, caught 1,011 receiving yards, averaged 12.8 yards per catch, and had 5 receiving touchdowns.
He is a versatile, fast receiver who can also put in work in the blocking game. He had a down year with jaguars he had some healthy scratches but i think with our new wide receiver coach Chad O’Shea could bring out the difference in and could be a cheaper option for depth help. I would expect him to sign a 2-year, $12 million deal.

Alec Pierce (Indianapolis Colts)
He is a 6’3”, 211-pound wide receiver who spent 4 seasons in the NFL with the Colts. He played 15 games, having 47 receptions for 1,003 receiving yards, averaging 21.3 yards per catch for 6 touchdowns. In his career, he played 64 games, recorded 157 receptions for 2,934 receiving yards (18.7 yards per catch), and 17 touchdowns. He has led the NFL in yards per catch in the last 2 years.
He is a big-body receiver who can catch 50/50 balls, and with him being a threat, he can affect the run game since they still focus on him. He would be our wide receiver 1, and he would be the big-body receiver Mahomes would need. I would expect him to sign a 3-year, $90 million deal.

Jauan Jennings (San Francisco 49ers)
He is a 6’3”, 212-pound wide receiver who spent 5 seasons with the 49ers. This year, he has played 15 games, catching 55 passes for 643 receiving yards (11.7 per catch) and 9 touchdowns. In his whole career, he played 75 games, had 210 receptions for 2,581 receiving yards, averaged 12.3 yards per catch, and had 22 touchdowns.
He is a tough, reliable pass catcher who is willing to block and work in the middle of the field. He is also a red zone threat we really need. The Chiefs lack a consistent point-scoring presence in the red zone, and he also has a tough playstyle. I think his biggest weakness is staying healthy. I would expect him to sign a 3-year, $66 million deal.
