What started as a whisper early today became a full-blown social media event. The Kansas City Chiefs have added left tackle Josh Simmons to their injury report. So what is his status for Sunday Night Football?

The Kansas City Chiefs will not play with rookie left tackle Josh Simmons for their Sunday night showdown against the Detroit Lions. The team put him on the injury list with a personal designation.
ChiefsBlitz.com has learned that Simmon is in California, dealing with a family matter. The San Diego, California native reportedly left town at some point over the weekend and likely will not return before kick-off tonight.
Jaylon Moore is expected to be Patrick Mahomes’ blindside protector tonight against the Detroit Lions.

At this time, we do not know the event that required Simmons to return to California, but we are sending prayers to his family.
In his place, the Chiefs will start free agent tackle Jaylon Moore. He’ll be making his first start in a Kansas City uniform. As the primary backup for Trent Williams in San Francisco, Moore has starting experience and was a standout in the pre-season.
The versatile tackle will be in the hot seat, facing one of the best defensive lines in football. Even with Simmons, it was a tall order to negate the Lions’ pass rushers. They are active, fast, and have the ability with just four rushers to disrupt the Chiefs’ passing game.
Without a running attack, the Chiefs will once again rely on Quarterback Patrick Mahomes to guide the offense.
