The saga is coming to an end for Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Rashee Rice. He agreed on Wednesday to accept a six-game suspension from the NFL for his actions related to a speeding incident and car crash on a Texas Highway last year.

The Chiefs announced their 53-man roster on Tuesday, and kept eight wide receivers to soften the blow of Rice’s pending NFL suspension. The team will need to make a roster move, but this will allow them to bring back Tight End Robert Tonyan, who was impressive in the preseason.

With the suspension, Rice can now focus on putting this final chapter behind him and moving ahead with an abbreviated 2025 season. He will be eligible to return in week seven at home against the Las Vegas Raiders.

In his absence, the Chiefs have a well-rounded receiving group that should be more than enough to compensate for the loss of Rice. To his credit, Rice has made financial restitution to the victims of the crash and negotiated a plea deal that carries a 30-day jail sentence to be served intermittently over the next five years.
