There was a slim chance the Kansas City Chiefs would have kept Skyy Moore for one more season, but with so much talent at wide receiver, the team cut its losses with their 2022 second-round pick.

When the Kansas City Chiefs made Skyy Moore a second-round pick in 2022, the entire fan base was stoked about his potential. Entering the draft, he was a gifted pass catcher, had explosive speed after the catch, and ran precise routes.
However, when he came to the Chiefs, the team set high expectations for Moore. The Chiefs were counting on his athleticism but the dual role didn’t pan out bouncing between playing wide receiver, learning the playbook and special teams.
As the primary return man in his rookie season, he struggled to catch the ball, and that lack of success made him press in the offense. Though he had some nice moments, he just never was able to find consistent playing time the last two seasons. He lacked confidence before injuries set him back the previous two years.
That only compounded his struggles.

The #Chiefs are trading WR Skyy Moore and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the 49ers for a 2027 sixth-round pick.

He did catch a Touchdown in Super Bowl LVII and made a terrific punt return in the AFC Championship game in 2023, but those were the highlights of his Chiefs career.
This was an easy trade to make for the Chiefs. Though the compensation was a swap of 2027 late-round draft picks, at least Kansas City got something for their former second-round pick. In San Francisco, he’ll get plenty of chances to help the 49ers adjust to their injury-riddled wide receiver room.
