Xavier Worthy In Concussion Protocol

After leaving practice on Tuesday with a head injury, Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy has been placed in the NFL concussion protocol. That means he won’t return to practice until he’s medically cleared.

Last season, Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy had an impressive rookie season. As training camp began last week, the second-year receiver looked every bit as good or better than he did a year ago.

However, on Tuesday, he left the practice field with a head injury after he hit his head on the turf attempting to catch a pass. Today, it was revealed that Worthy’s head trauma is a bit more severe than initially disclosed. The Chiefs indicated today he’s been placed in the NFL Concussion protocol and will remain there until he’s medically cleared.

Worthy has been a star at camp thus far, and the chemistry he shares with Patrick Mahomes was evident through Tuesday’s practice. With an off day for the players on Thursday, the Chiefs are in no hurry to get Worhty back on the practice field.

He’s expected to be fined, but if this lingers, he will likely not play in the Chiefs’ first exhibition game against the Arizona Cardinals on August 9th.

In other news, Hollywood Brown (ankle sprain) remains out of practice, but the bigger issue might be with Right Tackle, Jawaan Taylor. In the off-season, he had a clean-up done on his ailing knee, and he was out today after the knee flared up.

He was rotating with Jaylon Moore at right tackle. The free agent signee took all the snaps Wednesday, so there has to be some concern that Taylor is already missing practice time. Today’s workout was without pads and a glorified walk-through to work on situations.

Also missing practice again were receiver Skyy Moore (hamstring) and rookie tight end Jake Briningstool (hamstring).

The Chiefs players will likely be free to scatter back to KC for the afternoon and evening before reporting back to St. Joe on Thursday.
