It’s common for minor injuries to happen during the start of training camp. The Kansas City Chiefs have a few noteworthy ones, but nothing that should last into the regular season. Still, they’re worth keeping an eye on this week.

So far, the biggest camp news might have been the altercation between Left Tackle Josh Simmons and rookie defensive end Ashton Gillotte. Although a helmet was knocked off and the fight involved a punch or two, it was just a classic training camp scuffle.
Going against teammates in practice takes a toll. Eventually, the bear rises to the forefront and defends its territory with a vigor you’ll see in the first preseason game. With ten days left before the Chiefs debut their new roster, players are starting to grow tired of going against each other, especially in the trenches.
It’s a good sign for the players that they’re showing game intensity in the second week of practice. Of course, when the pads go on and you’re battling 90-degree temperatures, things can get testy quickly.
Still, the Chiefs have a few injuries they’re managing, and one has some fans worried.
Wide Receiver Hollywood Brown left the field on Tuesday, and Head Coach Andy Reid said it was a minor ankle injury. He’s not expected to miss much time, but it will be closely monitored.

Adding to the angst of the wide receiver room, Xavier Worthy had a head injury, which is not a concern to the head coach. However, after he left the field, Quarterback Patrick Mahomes went to check on him and appeared to be satisfied it was not serious.
Of course, fans suspect the worst because Brown has dealt with numerous injuries since he joined the NFL. However, this is nothing more than a typical camp strain.
Cornerback Kristian Fulton remains on the PUP list. It was initially disclosed at the start of camp that he had a minor knee scope over the summer, and he is expected to return at some point before the regular season starts.
Tight End Jake Briningstool has been dealing with a sore hamstring, which is a bit concerning. He has a great chance to make the 53-man roster. However, if the injury persists, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up on IR at some point to secure his spot in 2026.

The Chiefs have explored the possibility of acquiring former Denver Broncos first-round draft pick, tight end Noah Fant, who would be an excellent fit for their offense.
Receiver Skyy Moore also left the field this week with a hamstring injury. Although he’s a long shot to make the roster, this is a significant setback if he can’t get his leg healed. Currently, he’s behind the other receivers, and any lost time could determine his roster fate.
Lastly, it’s worth noting that rookie linebacker Jeffrey Bassa is also dealing with an ankle injury. The severity isn’t known, but he will be a key part of the Chiefs’ defense, relying on his speed to make plays. This is one to watch.
The Chiefs are back at practice today before taking a day off on Thursday.
