On Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs begin their 2025 training camp. Players reported on Monday, and now they have a day to adjust before gearing up for the season. There are lessons learned from last year, but setting that aside, is this a Super Bowl team?

I’ll make the obvious observation now. On paper, this is the best Chiefs roster assembled during the Andy Reid era in Kansas City. Aside from left tackle, which will likely be assigned to rookie Josh Simmons, there are no flaws in this team.
Losing embarrassingly in Super Bowl LIX isn’t a flaw; it was just an old-fashioned tail-whipping. The Chiefs were humiliated and will use that as motivation to bounce back from a tough day at the office.
So, let’s examine the regular and postseason.
September: @ Los Angeles (Brazil), vs. Eagles, @ NY Giants, vs. Ravens
Thankfully, the Kansas City Chiefs usually start strong. Traveling to São Paulo to begin the season is challenging enough, but it’s against the Chargers. The biggest game of the month is in week two when the Chiefs host the Eagles. I expect the atmosphere will be electric. To even out the month, the Chiefs go east to face the struggling Giants before coming home to play the Ravens.
Even the most die-hard fan isn’t going to claim the Chiefs will win all four games, but since they usually struggle in New York, I could see them going 3-1 for the month.

October: @ Jacksonville, vs. Lions, vs. Raiders, vs. Commanders
This might be the best month of the season. With three home games, the Chiefs should have a good chance to sweep the month. The Lions are going to compete with the Packers for NFC North dominance. The Raiders are still adjusting to the Pete Carroll way, but the Commanders might be the NFFC’s most exciting team.
Andy Reid has excelled at dominating NFC teams in the regular season, and I expect that trend will continue with a 4-0 sweep for the month.

November: @ Bills, Bye Week, @Broncos, vs. Colts, @ Cowboys (Thanksgiving)
This will be the most challenging stretch for the Chiefs. Facing three tough road games against playoff teams with an easier game in between is intimidating. I’m not confident the Chiefs will beat Buffalo and Denver on the road in consecutive weeks. I believe the Colts game will be a reset, but the game of the year is on Thanksgiving Day in Dallas.
The true believer thinks the Chiefs can go 3-1, but I believe a more realistic record is 2-2 in November.

December: vs. Texans, vs. Chargers, @ Tennessee, vs. Broncos, @ Las Vegas
This is the month that will determine the AFC West and homefield advantage in the AFC. The fact that the Chiefs host three playoff teams at home in December is very advantageous. We know what the three division winners will bring, but it’s the Texans that remain unpredictable.
Still, when it’s all said and done, the Chiefs finish the regular season with a five-game winning streak.

Post Season Predictions: vs. Steelers, vs. Bills, vs Packers
The Chiefs will get the bye week, and when they return to Arrowhead, we will finally see the Patrick Mahomes versus Aaron Rodgers matchup we’ve been waiting for. It will be an epic showdown, but this game will be Rodgers’ last in the NFL.
A week later, in the AFC Championship game, the Buffalo Bills will once again fall to the Arrowhead magic and lose to the Chiefs in the postseason. That sets up a Super Bowl I rematch with the Green Bay Packers.
Ultimately, this will be a magical season in Kansas City, and I don’t see them losing consecutive Super Bowls. Additionally, I believe Mahomes will have his best season of his career in 2025.
