Chiefs Second Round Pick Is in the Fold

With second-rounders holding out for more guaranteed dollars, the Kansas City Chiefs joined the revolt by signing Tennessee Defensive Tackle Omarr Norman-Lott on Saturday, completing the signings of their 2025 draft class.

When the next NFL and the CBA enter into talks on a new deal, they’ll have to address the fact that, along with first-round draft picks, the guys taken in the second round want their rookie deals guaranteed as well.

Eventually, all draft picks will be demanding the same guarantees. Per Ian Rapaport, the Kansas City Chiefs came to terms with their second-round pick, Omarr Norton-Lott. The Tennessee Vols standout defender will now join his teammates for training camp this week.

Norman-Lott is expected to be a key cog in the Chiefs’ defensive line rotation. At Tennessee, he wasn’t an every-down defensive lineman, but that wasn’t a knock on his talent. Instead, the Vols rotated all their defenders to keep them fresh and productive.

The Chiefs have big plans for their second-round pick: both Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and Defensive Line Coach Joe Cullen share a similar rotational foundation for their defense.

At the onset of training camp, he’ll be the primary backup for Defensive Tackle Mike Purnell, who is entering his 12th season in the NFL. Norman-Lott should make an immediate impact and is a player the Chiefs are hopeful can make a fast transition to the NFL.
