After hitting on all cylinders Thursday night, the Chiefs came back on Friday. They filled another position of need by selecting Tennessee Defensive Tackle Omarr Norman-Lott in the second round.

The Kansas City Chiefs had a clear path to achieving their goals with their initial picks on Friday. In selecting Tennessee DT OMarr Norman-Lott, they have an inside defender who can line up next to All-Pro Chris Jones.

Norman-Lott was a dominating performer for the Vols. He is a strong physical defensive tackle who can split the gaps, get his hands on the quarterback, and push the pocket into the backfield.

He’s a solid tackler, and playing next to Chris Jones should help his game and the Chiefs’ defense. At Tennessee, he was part of a solid interior rotation, making him a perfect candidate to bring his game to the Chiefs and the NFL.

The Chiefs had several meetings with the former Bouncer, a side job he had in college, and he came across as the real deal. Kansas City was drawn to his energy, his character, and his playmaking abilities.

He spoke highly of Steve Spagnuolo, and I’m sure he and Defensive Line Coach Joe Cullen instructed him to create havoc next to Jones. He fits a need for the Chiefs, and not many defensive tackles left on the board.

He’ll get his first taste of the Chiefs next week when he and the other draft picks will attend Rookie Mini-Camp.
