It’s clear the Kansas City Chiefs’ offseason plan is to add depth to their roster. Continuing that theme, the team re-signed one of their better defenders from their Super Bowl LVIII season.

Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach certainly has a plan this off-season. He was very methodical in his free-agent signees and brought back some familiar faces. On Thursday, he added depth to the secondary by signing former Chiefs standout, Safety Mike Edwards.
He played last season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but when the opportunity to return to the Chiefs arose this week, he jumped at it. Since then, the Chiefs have lost Justin Reid to the New Orleans Saints in Free Agency.

This season the Chiefs starting safety tandem will be second year man Jaden Hicks and Bryan Cook who will be a free agent after the 2025 season.
Edwards was a significant contributor to the Chiefs’ back-to-back Super Bowl wins, and the veteran will play a considerable role in Steve Spagnuolo’s defense this season.
