For nearly a year, we have discussed the Kansas City Chiefs’ quest to become the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls. After their victory against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night, they now have an opportunity to be acknowledged as the most excellent NFL team of all time.

In Kansas City, we’re experiencing unprecedented times. The Chiefs are returning to the Super Bowl, marking their fifth appearance in the last six seasons. If they defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in two weeks, they will become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
A victory like that would place them among the greatest teams in NFL history, instantly elevating Andy Reid, Travis Kelce, and Patrick Mahomes to GOAT status.
So how did we get here?
The Chief’s return to glory didn’t begin two years ago; it started with a loss to the New England Patriots in the 2018 AFC Championship game. Mahomes felt devastated, believing he had let down his teammates and the fan base. However, a pep talk from the GOAT, Tom Brady, reassured Mahomes: “This is your league now, ” passing a sentimental torch that inspired Mahomes to improve.
A year later, he led a furious fourth-quarter comeback to win the Chief’s first Super Bowl in fifty years in Super Bowl LIV. It was that game when Mahomes arrived as a Super Bowl winner, and he restored hope and possibilities for more of them down the road.

We didn’t expect him to deliver two more so quickly, but now he can claim a significant victory on his resume. He will be remembered for many years as the greatest in NFL history.
I won’t downplay what this game signifies for the Chiefs organization; it means everything! If that wasn’t clear from their performance against the Bills and Josh Allen, who gave it their all on the field,
At the start of training camp, Chiefs CEO and Chairman Clark Hunt discussed the potential of the three-peat and set the standard for the 2024 team. He made it clear that was the expectation this season.
As fans, we’ve talked about this since they won Super Bowl LVIII.

They persevered through training camp, preseason games, the regular season, injuries, roster changes, and their opponents’ fierce determination to defeat them. In different ways, they secured fifteen victories.
The 2024 edition of the Chiefs was on track as one of the greatest teams in Chiefs history. Yet, injuries to Hollywood Brown, Rashee Rice, Isiah Pacheco, and Jaylen Watson were key. Only Rice didn’t return for the playoffs. Yet, they showed their willingness to play team football and took whatever snaps were asked of each of them.
Andy Reid was masterful in using his entire roster, and general manager Brett Veach was even better in improving the roster up to the trade deadline. He added JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kareem Hunt, and DeAndre Hopkins. All were instrumental in the teams’ success after their arrival.

Players have stated that they never talked to Three-Peat during the year, but it would be hard to believe they didn’t discuss it amongst themselves. Even if it was a slight reference ever so often, the words of their boss probably never left a corner of their minds.
It was a subtle edict about what was expected, and now we are here because the Chiefs will play in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.
In my bones, I believe the Chiefs will get this done, and I’m NOT betting against Patrick Mahomes.
Yet, Marvel, for three straight seasons, they are at the pinnacle of history.
