Even though it’s doubtful any of the five Kansas City Chiefs players selected for the 2025 Pro Bowl in Orlando will be participants, it’s still lovely to be recognized by the fans and the players as the best of the best in the NFL.
The NFL announced its Pro Bowl invitees on Thursday Morning, and five members of the Kansas City Chiefs made the initial roster. They include Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, and the entire interior offensive line, Joe Thuney, Creed Humphrey, and, for the first time, Trey Smith.
Those that did not make a list were Patrick Mahomes and Trent McDuffie.
The NFL Pro Bowl isn’t much of an event these days. For Safety, they don’t play games, though they do end the weekend festivities with a flag football game, the allure of the post season honor is more about earning incentives for the selection that participating in the NFL’s latest version to make the weekend before the Super Bowl entertaining.
That aside, it’s still an honor. For the Chiefs, it represents both sides of the ball and pays homage to what the league views as the game’s best interior offensive line. Smith, a free agent in March, hopes to work out a deal to remain in Kansas City.
Creed Himprhies signed a record deal at the start of the season, and Thuney, who is on the books for $28M in 2025, will have to restructure his contract to stay in KC. The fact he’s become the team’s most valuable left tackle could push his price tag into a two or three-year extension.
For Kelce and Jones, this is just another honor for their Hall of Fame footnotes. Though they respect the honor, they and the others selected for the Pro Bowl are focused on winning their third straight Super Bowl.
