With Hollywood Brown set to return to the active roster this week, the Kansas City Chiefs have cut former first-round draft pick, running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
On Monday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced that the team has released running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. It is believed that his roster spot will be taken by Wide Receiver Hollywood Brown, who will be activated for Saturday’s final home game against the Houston Texans.
CEH was fabulous as a rookie, but after an injury against the New Orleans Saints in the last four years, he’s dealt with injuries and PTSD that have caused him to spend a lot of time away from football. He’s been honest about his struggles, and the Chiefs have stuck with him every step of the way.
He’s been a healthy scratch the last four games, and the team needed a roster spot for Brown, who is returning from what was believed to be a season-ending injury.
The Chiefs hope to get healthy this time of the year, but that’s in doubt with the ankle injury to Patrick Mahomes. He’s officially been diagnosed with a mid-level ankle sprain that likely knocks him out of Saturday’s contest against the Texans.
The team will be back at practice tomorrow, and we’ll learn more about the status of Mahomes.
