Chiefs Add Pro Bowl Left Tackle

When news broke Friday morning that former Arizona Cardinals Left Tackle DJ Humphries had been cleared to play football again, it was only a matter of time before he started the search for a new team. It appears that the team is the Kansas City Chiefs.

Earlier on the Four Guys in a Bar Chiefs Blitz Podcast, we discussed the Kansas City Chiefs’ strong interest in former Arizona Cardinals Left Tackle DJ Humphries. The Pro Bowl tackle has been cleared medically, and he instantly upgrades the tackle position in Kansas City.

The Chiefs desperately needed to add some juice to the offensive line. Rookie Kingsley Suamataia has struggled, and Wayna Morris has been dealing with injuries. Though Morris has played better, it’s possible that Humphries could slide into a starter role in the next couple of weeks.

Our Friend Jordan Schultz, with the Shucltz report, had the breaking news confirming our report. This is a huge mid-season pick-up for the Chiefs, who had also discussed bringing Donovan Smith back for the remainder of the season.

Ian Rappaport said the one-year deal could earn Humphries $4.5 million through the Chiefs playoff run. We are told he will be on the active roster, so Kansas City must make a roster move to clear a space on the 53.

Stay tuned to Chiefs Blitz for the latest news on DJ Humphries and roster moves heading into the Carolina Panthers game.
