Former Bengals and Broncos Running Back Joining Chiefs

On Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs added a pair of veterans to their roster. The most notable is running back Samaje Perine from the Denver Broncos.

With the team cloudy on the availability of Clyde Edwards-Helaire to start the season, the Kansas City Chiefs signed former Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos running back Samaje Perine to a one-year deal.

Chiefs fans remember how well he played for the Bengals. They let him go, and the Broncos signed him last season. However, injuries and a lack of playing time under Sean Payton were his demise, and he was cut on Tuesday.

ChiefsBlitz.com has learned the Chiefs will put Edwards-Helaire on injured reserve to make room for Perine on the 53-man roster. The Chiefs hope Perine still has the spark he displayed with the Bengals, allowing him to take on the Jerrick McKinnon role in Andy Reid’s offense.

In other news, the Chiefs claimed former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Eric Scott. Ironically, he was the player the Cowboys selected in a draft day trade with Kansas City in 2023.

The Chiefs are also starting to fill out their practice squad. More on that shortly!
