Mahomes Will Address Raiders Video in Week 7

At first, I didn’t think it was worth mentioning the recent flap over the video from a seventh-round draft pick, who likely won’t make the Las Vegas Raiders Roster. Yet, his video went viral, and Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid addressed it after the team’s first padded practice on Friday.

I get that boys will be boys in the NFL, and social media has allowed everyone to have fifteen minutes of fame. Why did Las Vegas Raiders Rookie Trey Taylor? The seventh-round pick made the video circline social media, making fun of Patrick Mahomes and his Kermit voice.

The puppet gate video was seen by millions and eventually shut down by Raiders Head Coach Antonio Pearce, who already has enough off-the-field issues to deal with this season. Today Pierce said the matter was closed.

The intended target, Patrick Mahomes, is a master at taking receipts and cashing them at a later date. He was asked on Friday, and his comments were direct and poignant.

“It’ll get handled when it gets handled,” Mahomes said to the KC press.

The Chiefs are already the odds-on favorite to win their fourth Super Bowl in six years, but why would a Raiders rookie diss the game’s most outstanding player? First, the Raiders’ poor leadership has made their franchise an embarrassment to the Raider Nation.

This once proud franchise has had its share of winning, but for decades now, it can’t get out of its way. It continues to make poor choices in the front office and with head coaches.

After temporarily holding down the fort after Josh McDaniels was fired, Pierce was given the job this offseason as the Raider’s next head coach. More than likely, his win over the Chiefs on Christmas Day last year presented fools good to owner Mark Davis, who said that he was worthy of the permanent title.

Yet, once again, the Raiders embarrass themselves, and the head coach must bail out the team.

In hindsight, I don’t fault the rookie for doing something crazy and stupid that didn’t harm anyone. Still, now he’s pissed off Mahomes, and Taylor’s teammates have to deal with Mahomes visit to Arrowhead West with an even more significant challenge to ruin the Chiefs quarterback’s perfect mark against the Raiders in Las Vegas.

The Chiefs hit the ground running in pads Friday, and you can tell from the tone of the players, the coaches’ attention to detail, and the overwhelming point that no outside threat will change the Chiefs’ course this year.

Mahomes is the greatest player in the game today, and it’s not even close. What he’s accomplished to date is nothing short of amazing. Now, he adds more fuel to his dislike for the Raiders on the field, and perhaps he’ll only put up fifty points on them when they meet in Week seven of the regular season.
