It took nearly 48 hours, but the Attorney for Rashee Rice, Royce West, has been hired to represent the Chiefs star wide receiver. Rice remains a person of interest in a six-car pile-up that occurred Saturday evening but has yet to be charged with any crimes.

Early Sunday morning, news broke of an accident involving Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Rashee Rice. The Chiefs star was involved in a six-car pile-up, and there are indications he may have fled the scene before police arrived.

Though photos are inconclusive, more surfaced today, showing similar clothing worn at a party and later exiting the crash site.

Earlier this morning, Kansas City Chiefs President Mark Donovan expressed that he was aware of the situation and felt fortunate that no serious injuries occurred with the six-car pile-up.

“In all of these situations, you have to wait for all of the facts. We don’t have all of the facts .. we will get to the bottom of it and we will act accordingly.” Chiefs president Mark Donovan on Rashee Rice, via @kcmotalkradio with @PeteMundo.

This is unfortunate timing for the Chiefs, as the 1/3-cent stadium tax is up for a vote in Jackson County on Tuesday. Either way, it was going to be a close call, and this news might not help the situation.

Yet that vote will happen, and it’s unclear what charges Rice will face in the coming days. Royce West is a brilliant attorney who represents many professional Dallas athletes. He has a firm grasp of Texas state law and has four decades of legal experience. His job now is to negotiate the best deal for Rice.

As for the crash, per @AmeliaJonesTV in Dallas, Rashee Rice rented the Lamborghini involved in the accident. That means possibly someone else was driving that car while he was in his Corvette.

For Rice, it was one thing to speed recklessly racing another vehicle that caused a multi-car accident, but if he fled the scene, that constitutes a felony charge in the state of Texas. Even if he pleads to a misdemeanor, he’s likely facing a fine and a penalty from the NFL, including a loss of pay and suspension for multiple games.

The curious part about this situation is that Rice never had any off-the-field issues in Dallas at SMU or with the Chiefs last season. However, some of the goodwill he earned last season with the fans and the players might take time to heal. Either way, he has a long road ahead to get his life back in order.
