Report: Rashee Rice Involved in Car Accident in Dallas

Updated 1:54 PM—According to a report by the Dallas Morning News, on Saturday night, Rashee Rice was allegedly driving one of two cars that collided on the US 75 highway, causing a six-car chain reaction pileup. Police are searching for Rice about the incident that involved his Corvette.

Even though the details are still blurry, Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Rashee Rush might have made the wrong headlines on Easter Sunday. Per investigators, the highly talented player indicated that he might have been involved in an accident on US 75, ultimately causing a six-car pile-up.

The Dallas Morning News reports that two people were treated at the scene and were released. However, two other individuals were taken to the Hospital with minor injuries.

At 2:00 PM Central Time, things are still vague until Police investigators question Rice and another man driving a Lamborghini; we will know the severity of the situation after passing any judgment on Rice. Still, the police indicated that Rice’s car was speeding and racing another car through a crowded highway. Per TMZ Sports, they have photos of those men in both vehicles; however, it does not appear Rice is one of them walking away from the scene.

The Kansas City Chiefs have not commented about the incident, but they are likely aware of the facts of the accident and Rice’s whereabouts.

Rice has never been in trouble, either at SMU or in Kansas City. This past season, his emerging play on the field helped propel the Chiefs to back-to-back Super Titles, so fans this morning are shocked by the news.

As a rookie, he did the work in the classroom, in practices, and down the stretch when the games were the biggest, he made key plays. In fact, without Rice stepping up the last two months of the season, it’s doubtful Kansas City would have made it to the Super Bowl.

If true, today’s news is disheartening, but it’s not uncommon for young men who find immediate success in the NFL and a few dollars in the bank to make mistakes like the one Rice may have done Saturday. Again, Rice has shown nothing but being a stand-up person and teammate.

From this point forward if Rice was behind the wheel, what he does to rebuild the narrative of this accident will ultimately depend on how he’s viewed by the organization, his teammates, and the fan base.

In addition, the NFL will undoubtedly have a say in any potential punishment involving Rice for the legal issues he could face if charged. We should learn more in the coming days.

If he was not driving the car, he’d be guilty of letting someone borrow and drive his car recklessly.
