Chiefs Retain Two More Defenders

The Kansas City Chiefs continue to emphasize retaining their free agents on the defensive side of the ball. They signed a pair of defensive linemen back in the fold on Thursday.

It’s clear that Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach and Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo had a plan to retain as many pieces as possible from their Super Bowl LVIII team.

Chris Jones, Drue Tranquill, Deon Bush, and Mike Pennel signed deals to remain in Kansas City. On Thursday afternoon, Defensive End, Tershawn Wharton, and Defensive Tackle, Derrick Nnadi, both signed one-year deals for the 2024 season.

Once Jones and Tranquill had signed, Spagnuolo chose to take a steady approach to retaining his players. He was a master at rotating his defensive players, and he’ll have most of his core guys back this season.

It remains to be seen what the Chiefs do with L’Jarius Sneed, but I’m sure Veach will find a way to retain him if possible. If not, he’ll hold onto Sneed until we get closer to the NFL draft in April.
