On Sunday Night, the NFL announced their schedule for the Divisional Round this weekend, and the Kansas City Chiefs could play their next playoff game either Saturday at home or Sunday on the road.
After the Detroit Lions defeated the Los Angeles Rams 24-23, the NFL announced the schedule for the divisional round on Saturday and Sunday. The Kansas City Chiefs won’t know the location or the team they’ll face in the second round until late Monday afternoon.
The Chiefs are in limbo until the conclusion of the Pittsburgh Steelers Wild Card game against the Buffalo Bills later today. If the Steelers upset the Bills, Kansas City will host the divisional round on Saturday against the Houston Texans at 3:30 Central time at Arrowhead. ESPN and ABC will broadcast that game.
If the Bills, as expected, defeat the Steelers, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will play in Buffalo at 5:30 PM late Sunday afternoon. If that occurs, Mahomes will play his first non-super Bowl game on the road, and it will likely be the highest-rated post-season game of the weekend. It will be great NFL theatre with Mahomes versus Josh Allen.
The Chiefs, coming off their 26-7 thumping of the Miami Dolphins on Saturday night, will be rested heading into the divisional round of the playoffs. Should they face the Bills in Buffalo, they’ll get two extra days of rest versus their opponent.
If the Bills fumble their game on Monday, the Texans and Chiefs, who opened the postseason on Saturday, will have the same amount of rest and preparation.
