Retirement Not in the Cards for Travis Kelce

Rumors suggest Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce addressed the media today. In asking the question about his future, he delivered his comments in the style that makes him beloved within the locker room and the fan base.

With a wild card matchup set for Saturday Night in Kansas City, the Chiefs are getting ready to face the Miami Dolphins. It’ll be the first matchup between the Chiefs and Miami Dolphins since December 25th, 1971.

One of the big story lines heading into this game was the future of Tight End, Travis Kelce. Some have speculated, and even Kelce two months ago said he thinks about retirement, but he made it clear when asked again by reporters.

“I have no desire to stop anytime soon,” Kelce told reporters Thursday. “But it’s funny for me to even say that at this point in my career. I think it’s so much further down the road than it is right now.”

That should seal any doubt amongst the Chiefs Kingdom that Kelce won’t be back in 2024 and beyond. Yes, this isn’t the season we all thought it would be for the team and Kelce. Much of the speculation about his future stemmed from his desire to sit out Sunday’s game at Los Angeles.

“I just didn’t care enough about [1,000 yards],” Kelce said. “I felt like I could get some rest and let the guys go out there and just play the game instead of worrying about getting this old guy 16 yards. Just never felt right,” Kelce stated.

Kelce is at the height of his popularity. Between his NFL career on the field with the Chiefs, his number one rated New Heights Podcast with his Brother, Jason Kelce, and his relationship with Pop Star, Taylor Swift, Kelce is atop the world.

Even if the Chiefs manage to repeat as Super Bowl Champions, I doubt he wouldn’t want to be part of a Three-Peat. At some point, he’ll walk away from the game to make movies and spend more time with his girlfriend, but right now he’s focused on the Miami Dolphins and nothing more.
