Keondre Coleman Returns to the Chiefs

On Thursday, the Kansas City Chiefs brought back a familiar face to the organization. Keondre Coburn returns to the team’s practice squad after a three-week stint on the Denver Broncos active roster.

When the Kansas City Chiefs activated free agent signee, Charles Omenihu for their home game versus the Los Angeles Chargers last month, the team had to cut another defensive player.  To the surprise of many, the team cut 2023 sixth-round pick, Keondre Coburn.

After he was released by the Denver Broncos on Tuesday, he cleared waivers Wednesday and was signed to the Chiefs practice squad before today’s team workouts.  Personally, was surprised he was cut, and though he didn’t see reps in the regular season, he saw plenty of action in the preseason.

The Chiefs defensive line has played well, but Coburn, the University of Texas standout, was drafted to potentially fill the role of Derrick Nnadi who will be a free agent after the season. Without an injury, I doubt he will get on the field this year, but to have Coburn in the fold does add depth to the position.

Thursday the Chiefs went back to practice to get ready for their Monday Night matchup with the Super Bowl Runner Ups, the Philadelphia Eagles.
