Suprise Development: Will Xavier Worthy Be Available for Home Opener?

In a shocking development, Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy was on the practice field on Wednesday. According to the injury release, the speedy wide receiver was limited. So will he play Sunday?

Kansas City Chiefs’ opening day loss pales in comparison to the potential loss of Wide Receiver, Xavier Worthy. With the extra time between the opener and the home opener Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles at Arrowhead, Worthy has taken advantage of the extra time to rehab his dislocated shoulder.

The shocking sight of him on the practice field was good news for his eventual return to the field. Initially, ChiefsBlitz.com learned he could miss one or two games. That appears to be the case, and that’s going to allow Kansas City to stay out of the trade or free agent process to replace Worhty.

With Rashe Rice still five weeks away from returning to the team, if Worthy is indeed able to play effectively, the offense will get a big boost. I’m sure Head Coach Andy Reid will be cautious in placing him back on the field.

However, if the training staff believes they can brace the shoulder and he can be effective in the Chiefs’ offense before the injury, I think it’s realistic that he should be back on the field a week from Sunday when the Chiefs travel to New York to play the Giants.

The Chiefs are facing a must-win on Sunday. With a brutal schedule ahead, Kansas City can’t afford to start the season 0-2. If that happens, the AFC West will have another team that can take advantage of the Chiefs’ tailspin.

We should no more later today as Andy Reid addresses the media regarding the availability of Xavier Worthy for Sunday’s matchup against the defending Super Bowl Champions.
