The Kansas City Chiefs received some terrific news on Thursday. Though that news could turn sour in October, the team was notified today that the hearing for Rashee Rice won’t be conducted with the NFL until Tuesday, September 30th.

Today, the Kansas City Chiefs were told by the NFL league office that wide receiver Rashee Rice would have his hearing two days after the Chiefs host the Baltimore Ravens in week four of the NFL season.
That means the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense will be intact the first month of the season. Further, since the meeting is during the regular season, this could mean a lighter sentence for Rashee Rice.

His disciplinary hearing with the NFL is on Tuesday, Sept 30 in New York.

Earlier this summer, he pleaded down his off-the-field road race on a Dallas Highway, made restitution with the victims of the car crash, and settled all his civil suits. That could be the reason for the delay by the league office to review all legal and civil documents in his case.
Rice, his representatives, and the players’ association will try to convince the NFL that his actions to date to correct his error in judgment were a one-time thing and that the remorse he has shown since the incident is genuine.
We do not know how long the league will take once the interview has been conducted, but I suspect it’ll be quick. Neither the NFL nor the Chiefs wants this to drag out.
Further, we have heard rumblings that Rice and the Chiefs could be working on a contract extension now that the civil cases are settled.
