With the injuries to Hollywood Brown, Skyy Moore, and Xavier Worthy, the Kansas City Chiefs added a former Kansas Jayhawk receiver who spent time in the UFL this spring.

Though it’s not unusual to have multiple players injured at the same position, it happens from time to time. With the Chiefs down three wide receivers, Skyy Moore, Xavier Worthy, and Hollywood Brown, they signed former Kansas Jayhawks standout, Kwamie Lassister II.
Last season, Lassiter spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals. He was not given a contract this season, so he signed up to play for the Memphis Showboats of the UFL. His stats weren’t eye-popping, but he’s a fast slot receiver who could get extensive practice time with the Chiefs.
Further, with the looming suspension of Wide Receiver Rashee Rice to start the 2025 season, having an extra body with NFL experience at a position of enormous importance for the Chiefs’ offense makes sense.
The Chiefs players have the day off on Thursday so that Lassister will get his first chance with his new teammates Friday morning.

Lassiter, a walk-on for the Jayhawks, was a standout receiver at KU, where he amassed 1550 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in his college career.
However, he’s only played in a pair of NFL games, so this move might be to add a practice body for the remainder of training camp.
Still, the Chiefs did work him out today, and felt with the injuries piling up early in camp, the former UFL player is a solid pickup for Kansas City.
In other Chiefs news, per KC Star writer Jessie Newell, the Chiefs waived free agent punter Eddie Czaplicki. That means Matt Araiza will be the Chiefs’ punter this season.
