Just a few minutes before the roster cutdown, the Kansas City Chiefs General Manager made another move Tuesday, acquiring Peyton Hendershot, a backup Tight End.
Hours earlier, the Kansas City Chiefs cut veteran tight end Irv Smith Jr. and traded with the Dallas Cowboys for backup Tight End Peyton Hendershot. The NFC East team had planned on cutting Hendershot today, but instead, the Chiefs sent a seventh-round pick to the Cowboys to secure his place on the Chiefs’ 53-man roster.
This is a curious move because the University of Indiana product has not put up great numbers in the NFL. In college, he was sensational, so perhaps he has other skillsets to help the roster. I’m told he also has experience in long snapping, so that might have been the reason the Chiefs made the trade.
