On Tuesday, NFL Insider Aaron Wilson reported that the Kansas City Chiefs are adding offense to their practice squad. The practice squad is heavy by one player in making these moves today, so a corresponding move will be made Thursday when the Chiefs return to practice.
With the additions of Wide Receiver Anthony Miller and Tight End Izaigh Gathing to the practice squad, the Chiefs felt they needed more depth on offense. Monday, the team placed Wide Receiver, Skyy Moore, on Injured Reserve, ending his 2023 NFL season.
Miller spent time with the Chiefs Offensive Coordinator in Chicago as head coach of the Bears. He’s a small physical receiver, but his depth is significant for Nagy. Should another injury occur at the wide receiver position, Miller has a basic knowledge of the offense.
For Tight End, Izaih Gathing spent time with the Chiefs in training camp but didn’t get much of an opportunity to stick around long enough to make an impression.
Still, the Chiefs must cut a practice squad player to fit Miller and Gathing onto the junior roster.
Kansas City also placed Justyn Ross on the 53-man roster, replacing Moore, so we should find out on Thursday what plans Head Coach Andy Reid has for Ross. One thing is sure: Reid made it very clear on Monday that Wide Receiver Ritchie James will get more playing time this Monday.
